Pro Home Care Services

Home Health Aides and Personal Care Assistants

Home Health Aides (HHA) assist clients who are unable to care for themselves or perform daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, dressing, and bathing. They may also perform basic medical services such as checking vital signs, and preparation of prescribed diets. They may provide long-term care or intermittent care in the most compassionate fashion while adhering to the wants and needs of the client.

Personal Care Assistants (PCA) work at hospitals, nursing homes, private residences and other care facilities to help fulfill a patient’s basic needs. They work with patients of varying levels of independence and ability. PCA's frequently check up on patients to monitor their vital signs, help them move from place to place, deliver meals, feed patients, help them use the toilet and bathe. They communicate with patients about their symptoms and needs, reporting changes or concerns to other members of the patient’s care team. Personal Care Assistants provide companionship and social interaction to prevent patients from feeling isolated and recommend mental health resources.

Both of these occupations hold similar daily tasks and are selected upon the needs of the client's and specific request. Each occupation holds its own duties and responsibilities.

Private Duty Nurses are Registered Nurses (RNs) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) who meet state and federal licensing requirements. They assess and evaluate clients and provide services as indicated by the Plan of Care. Working collaboratively with the Director of Nursing (DON), they update and implement each client’s Plan of Care as appropriate. Private Duty Nurses keep clients healthy and improve the quality of their lives. They engage their clients’ family members to support the overall well-being of their clients.
